Cu maşină de tăiat polistiren puteţi decupa materiale din spuma ieftină. Cel mai popular material este spuma din polistirol expandat EPS (nume cunoscute: hungarocell, nikecell, stiropor). Un material mai tare este spuma XPS din polistirol extrudat care are o suprafaţă mai uniformă.
